Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended the Indian Diaspora for distinguishing itself across the world, as he received an enthusiastic welcome from the community on his arrival here on a major visit to further enhance Indo-US relations.

2. Facebook’s technology head Mike Schroepfer to step down.

Long-time Facebook executive Mike Schroepfer said on Wednesday that he was stepping down as the company’s chief technology officer.

3. Choreographer Shiamak Davar’s mom Puran Davar dies at 99.

Ace choreographer Shiamak Davar’s mother, Puran Davar, passed away at 99 this morning, September 23. Puran was not keeping as well for some time and died of old age.

4. PM –CARES Fund not a fund of Government of India, Delhi HC told.

PRIME MINISTER’s citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation, a charitable trust under the law, has told Delhi High Court that the trust’s fund is not a fund of the Government of India and its amount does not go in the Consolidated Fund of India.

5. SP workers ‘purify’ places visited by UP CM Adityanath in Sambhal.

Samajwadi Party youth workers undertook a “purification” exercise of the places visited by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Sambhal district by sprinkling “Gangajal”.

6. Govt. reshuffles top bureaucrats, makes 13 secretary level appointments.

New Delhi in a major top level bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Wednesday appointed 13 new secretaries in Union government against posts that were vacant for the past few months, including the first secretary for the newly formed ministry of cooperation.

7. Taliban’s committee to not allow terror on Afghan soil must be implemented: Jaishankar.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has told the G20 nations that the Taliban’s committee not to allow the use of Afghanistan’s soil for terrorism in any manner should be implemented and the world expects a broad based, inclusive process that involves representation from all sections of the Afghan society.

8. Bengaluru: 3 killed, 2 injured in firecracker godown explosion.

The actual cause of the blast could not ascertained immediately.

9. IMD alerts: Heavy rain to continue in 10 states due to cyclonic circulation till Sept 26.

The monsoon seems to continue this year beyond the expected time limit with several states, including Gujrat, West Bengal and Maharashtra, either witnessing rise in water level of nearby rivers or waterlogging in vast areas.
