·    PM Narendra Modi formally launched the National Automobile Scrappage Policy and Investors Summit for setting up Vehicle Scrapping Infrastructure, through video conferencing at Gandhinagar in Gujrat.

·      The summit is being organised by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Gujrat government in Gandhinagar.

State Affairs

·      The Assam Assembly passed the Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021 aimed at regulating slaughter, consumption and transportation of cattle in the state.

·      The Assam Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021- which prohibits the sale and purchase of beef in areas inhabited by non-beaf eating communities and within a radius of 5 km. of a temple or a satra.

Sports

·      Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur launched a nationwide programme of ‘Fit India Freedom Run 2.0’ programme from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

·      The programme will be organised in 744 districts and 30 thousand educational Institutions across the country.

·      The run will start on August 15 and will go on till October 2.

·      This initiative was a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which was flagged off by PM Modi.

·      Shakib Al Hasan and West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor were named the ICC player of the Month for July in men’s and Women’s categories respectively.

Banking & Finance

·      The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled the license of Raigad based Karnala Nagari Sahakari Bank Limited in Maharashtra.

·      According to RBI, the license of Karnala Nagari Sahakari Bank was cancelled due to insufficient capital and earning prospects and its continuance would have adversely affected depositors.

International Affairs

·      Pakistan successfully test fired a nuclear capable surface to surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi.

·      As per the military’s media wing, missile Ghaznavi is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads up to a range of 290 kilometres.

Schemes


·  Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has launched the e-crop survey initiative which will become effective in Maharashtra from August 15.

·      The project, which was initially introduced as a pilot in two districts, is jointly implemented by the departments of revenue and agriculture along with the Tata trust.
