CURRENT AFFAIRS

 

National & International Appointments

·      Pushkar Singh Dhami was sworn in as the 11 th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

·      Governor Rani Maurya administered the oath to Mr. Dhami at Rajbhawan in Dehradun.

·      Pushkar Singh Dhami is the youngest CM of the state.

·      He will be the third CM in nearly four months.

·      He is a two time MLA from the Khatima constituency in the Udham Singh Nagar district of the state.

·      All members of the previous council of ministers led by Tirath Singh Rawat were given a place in the new cabinet.

·      Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been named as the Minister of newly formed Ministry of Co-operation.

·      Vision of the Ministry of Co-operation: Sahkar se samriddhi.

·      It will help deepen co-operatives as a true people based movement reaching up to the grassroots.

 

 Banking & Finance

·      The Reserve Bank of India imposed a penalty of Rs. 25 lakhs on Punjab and Sind Bank for non-compliance with certain provisions of directions on ‘Cyber Security Framework in Banks’.

·      The state owned bank had reported a few cyber incidents to the RBI on May 16 and 20, 2020.

·      The RBI issued a show cause notice to the bank.

·      NABARD has sanctioned Rs 388 crore under the RIDF for four drinking water and 20 rural road projects in Odisha.

·      These projects will provide safe drinking water for 8 hrs. to 2.57 lakh rural people in 467 villages.

·      Construction and up gradation of 20 village roads across 15 dist of the state will be taken up under this sanction.

 

 Defence

·      Defence Ministry has implemented an integrated system for automation of sanction, disbursement of defence pension named as SPARSH.

·      SPARSH envisages establishment of Service Centres to provide last mile connectivity pensioners.

·      In addition to Defence Accounts Department, SBI and PNB have been co-opted as Service Centres.

 

Topic- National Affairs

·      Amazon has launched its first Digital Kendra in India in Surat, Gujrat to provide micro small and medium enterprises the opportunity to learn about the benefits of e –commerce.

·      It will digitise 10 million Indian MSMEs by 2025.

·      Indian Railways has launched India’s first movable freshwater tunnel aquarium ‘Aquatic Kingdom’ at Krantivira Sangoli Rayanna Railway Station (Bengaluru City Railway Station)

·      The aquarium has been jointly opened by Indian Railway Stations Development Cooperation in collaboration with HNi Aquatic Kingdom.

·      It is based on the concept of Amazon River.

·      It is 12-feet long aquatic kingdom and Indian Railways first paludarium that houses myriad flora and fauna.
