India’s Rahi Sarnobat won the gold medal in the women’s 25 meters pistol event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Osijek, Croatia.

Rahi shot 39 out of 50 in the 25m pistol final to win the first gold for India in the ongoing World Cup.

The silver went to France’s Mathilde Lamolle, who scored 31 in the final.

Also, in the women’s 25m pistol team event she along with Chinki Yadav and Manu Bhaker won the team gold medal.

Deepika Kumari completed a hat-trick of gold medals at the Archery World Cup stage 3 after winning the women’s individual recurve event.

She best Elena Osipova of Russia 6-0 in the women’s individual recurve final.

She also won gold medals in the mixed team and women’s recurve team events.

Deepika’s 2nd gold medal came with her husband Atanu Das in the mixed team recurve event.

Deepika, Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari decided Mexico in the women’s recurve team event.

In chess, Abhimanyu Mishra becomes the youngest Chess grandmaster.

He breaks the record of 12 years, four months, and seven months set by Sergey Karjakin in 2002.

Abhimanyu reached the milestone in 12 years, four months, and 25 days.

He defeated 15-year-old Indian GM Leon Luke Mendonca.

Abhimanyu is from New Jersey, USA.

 

 National & International Appointments

Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force.

He will succeed Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora.

He is currently serving as commander in chief of the IAF’s Western Air Command(WAC)

Air Marshal Arora retired from service in June 2021.

Chief of the Air Staff: RK Singh Bhadauria.

The centre has granted a one-year extension to Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog till June 2022.

He has also been piloting the Union government’s ease of doing business initiative.

He was appointed as the CEO of the public think tank in 2016.

 National Affairs

India ranked 20th among the 100 countries in the Global Start-up Ecosystem Index 2021 by start-up Blink.

The country was in the 17th spot in 2019 and slid six spots down in 2020 and stood at 23.

Like last year, the US, the UK, Israel, Canada and Germany are in the top five spots.

India started Start-up India in January 2016.

The govt’s flagship program- Digital India has completed 6 years on 1 st July 2021.

PM modi had launched this program on 1st July 2015.

It has positively impacted all aspects of the lives of Indian citizens through Adhaar, Direct Benefit Transfer, Common services centres. Digi Locker and mobile based UMANG services.


 State Affairs

Andhra Pradesh govt. came out with the new Information Technology Policy 2021-24

It is expected to generate more than 55k jobs over the next 3 yrs.

The new policy is also expected to create 1.65lakh indirect employment thereby ensuring a holistic ecosystem development.

The policy would be in force till March 31,2024

The govt. would establish an IT Emerging Technologies Research University in Vishakhapatnam.
